Prof. (Dr) MSA Mansur Ahmed, MBBS, MPH

Professor MSA Mansur Ahmed obtained his MBBS degree from Chittagong Medical College under University of Chittagong in 1973. He got his MPH degree majoring in epidemiology from the School of Public Health under the University of Minnesota in 1981 as a Fellow of WHO. He is also specialized in Diabetology doing a Certified Course in Epidemiology (CCD) from BIRDEM. Besides; he got several short course trainings in Public Health field from different universities /institutes at home and abroad, including Mahidol University, Thailand, IIHMR, Jaipur, India and ICOMP, Malaysia.  A public Health worker for more than three decades, Professor Mansur is experienced as a teacher in Epidemiology, Community Medicine, Demography and NCD and retired from the National Institute of Preventive & Social Medicine (NIPSOM), the apex institute of Public Health in Bangladesh, as the Professor of Community Medicine. He worked as a visiting Professor in a number of Universities and Institutes in Bangladesh teaching different public health courses .He had been a Consultant of the World Health Organization for a period of five years.  Presently he has beenworking as the Professor & Head of the Dept of Community Medicine and coordinator of MPH programs  of Non-communicable Disease (NCD) , community Medicine and Family Medicine at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS, Bangladesh. Professor Mansur’s present concentration and research interest is in Non communicable diseases (Mainly Diabetes and CVDs), Community Medicine and epidemiology. He participated in several national and international Scientific conferences in Public Health and Medical Science including IEA conference at Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2010, IDF Conference in December 2011 in Dubai, UAE and South East Asian Regional Public Health Conference , Kolkata, India in February 2013in which he chaired Scientific sessions  besides the presentation of his research articles. He is also author of a book entitled “Synopsis of Demography and Population Dynamics” which is used as a text book in postgraduate studies in public health. Prof. Mansur wrote the country paper on “Revitalizing Primary Health Care: Country Experiences of Bangladesh, 2008” to be presented in the WHO regional conference in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2008. Professor Mansur has about 20 published articles in peer reviewed scientific journals.
