Palash Chandra Banik

Mr. Palash Chandra Banik was born in 21 December, 1984 at Ramgopalpur of Munshigonj in Bangladesh. He is the son of Mr. Dulal Chandra Banik and Mrs. Laxmi Rani Banik. He has completed his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination under Dhaka Board in the year of 2000 and completed his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination under the same board in the year of 2002. He has passed Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (BScPT) from the University of Dhaka under the Faculty of Medicine in the year of 2008. He got his MPhil degree in ‘Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs)’ from the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) under the Faculty of Preventive and Social Medicine in collaboration with University of Oslo, Norway in the year of 2012. He is a NOMA scholar. He stood first in all the examinations of the department of Community Medicine of Bangladesh Institute of Health Sciences (BIHS). Now he is working as a Senior Lecture in the Department of Community Medicine of Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) since 1st July 2013. He was a Senior Research Fellow in NCDs program, under the Dept. of Community Medicine of the Bangladesh Institute of Health Sciences (BIHS), Dhaka from 1st October 2012 to 30th June 2013. He is an examiner of physiotherapy of the University of Dhaka from 2010. He was a guest lecturer of Physiotherapy in the State College of Health Sciences (SCHS) from 2009 to June 2013 which is affiliated by University of Dhaka. He was also a Senior Physiotherapist of the Physiotherapy and Paralyzed Welfare Center (PPWC) from 2009 to June, 2013.  He is very young in professional exercise in the field of NCDs. He is responsible for a wide range of project oriented activities in the field of NCDs as a regular job in his workplace. Moreover, he has to take class and assist MPH and MPhil students under NCDs course of his university for their research based work mostly focused on diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and other NCDs. He was the supervisor of more than twenty under graduate student’s thesis work. His field of interest in research is diabetes. However, Risk factors of NCD, cardiovascular diseases, and physical disability are the frequent research working areas. He feels more comfortable and intend to work on diabetes particularly risk assessment, complications of diabetes and formulation of appropriate and pragmatic prevention strategies to reduce the burden of these diseases. This is all about his career plan yet to make it a success.
